A town hall meeting in Anytown, USA provides the dramatic context for a panoply of songs in a wide range of musical styles and genres, whose cleverly constructed lyrics explore a vast array of contemporary hot-button social issues. Both ends of the political spectrum are satirically skewered over the course of the story, but the show offers sympathy to each side as well. Approaching its varied topics with wit and good humor, this full-length original musical by Jason Powell attempts to throw a rope-bridge over the ever-widening chasm of misunderstanding between the right and the left in modern-day politics.
This production featuring Pius XI Catholic High School students was presented this summer at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland and plays for one more hometown performance as part of the Milwaukee Fringe Festival, on the stage of the Wilson Theater at Vogel Hall inside the Marcus Center!

Pius Parent Producers (PPP) is a fluid group of parent volunteers that come together each school year to help support all aspects of the Performing Arts. We support the program with donations of time and items, and we also comprise a core group of planners to help support our students, teachers, and the department. Sokol Milwaukee, celebrating 150 years of “A Sound Mind in a Sound Body,” proudly presents THE ACCIDENTAL HERO–the remarkably true story of a Wisconsin hero
THE ACCIDENTAL HERO is a multi-media one-man show about a WWII American officer who miraculously liberates the Czech villages of his grandparents. It’s a true story, written and performed by his grandson.
Patrick Dewane’s grandfather refused to talk about his service in the war. Yet when he died his basement yielded a treasure trove of typewritten accounts, photos and rare film footage.
Dewane brings this archival material to glowing life as an enthralling, humorous and heartwarming tale of miraculous escapes and astonishing coincidences. This touching show runs from belly laughs to tears. Dewane takes a dozen different roles as he powerfully recounts his grandfather’s journey from Omaha Beach, the Battle of the Bulge, and the end of WWII. In the last week of the war, Konop’s story turns from another soldier’s tale to something from mythology as he discovers his Czech roots.
Like Luke Skywalker, he thinks he’s just fighting the Evil Empire, whereas the real story is about his once-obscured identity. But unlike Skywalker, the story is true.
Experience the music of Pius XI choirs! Their fall concert features all ensembles singing a selection of spirituals and uplifting songs.
Founded in 1891, The St. Olaf Band, dubbed “one of America’s preeminent bands” by The New Yorker, will perform in the Midwest on its 2018 national tour. The St. Olaf Band performs the very best compositions and transcriptions for symphonic band, producing an exciting, crowd-pleasing style. Included on this year’s tour program will be Dr. Mahr’s Symphony No. 1, which received its world premiere in 2016.

He recalls one summer he spent at his aunts’ home when he was seven years old. It was the summer of 1936 and young Michael watches as his aunts search for and find the potential for love–only to lose it as the hardships of life begin to cripple them. The 2:00pm performance on Sunday, November 11 will be interpreted in American Sign Language.

The Festival of Lessons and Carols is a service celebrating the birth of Jesus through scriptural readings and song. The story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus is told in nine short Bible readings from Genesis, the prophetic books and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of history’s most beloved Christmas carols.
The Wisconsin Intergenerational Orchestra returns with their 2018 winter concert! This performance features WIO’s Intermezzo and iGen Symphony along with special guests from the Brookfield Central High School Chamber Choir.
