The 54-member band will present an “Adventure” theme, with music from films and operas, works by German composers, pop music and a variety of marches. Come and enjoy the artistry of these young musical ambassadors!
Is history ever spent repeating itself? What does it mean to be an American? These are just a couple of questions that this new opera, composed by Pius XI alum Sam Mullooly, attempts to address. The opera is set in April 1865, the final month of the American Civil War, which was a particularly triumphant yet ruinous month in American history. With the words written by Sam’s father, Tom Mullooly, American Spring is a combination of historical retelling, personal drama, and modern political allegory. The premiere of this opera will be performed in our Black Box Theater as a staged reading on August 12th and 13th.
